אספר בקיצור, אבל גם במילים קצרות הסיפור קשה.
לאחר ההכרה של המדינה בביר הדאג' ככפר מוכר בתהליך של כמה שנים, המדינה הצליחה לשכנע את תושבי ביר הדאג' להיכנס לריכוז קטן של הכפר שלהם, כאשר לכל בית אב יוקצה דונם לבניית ביתו, ועוד ארבע דונם ל"חקלאות". רק בהשוואה - מעט צפונה מהם המושבים נהנים מ 70 דונם לחקלאות לכל בית אב. ניתן לומר בציניות שהמדינה מאמינה ביכולותיהם של הבדואים - להצליח כלכלית בחקלאות על 5% מהקרקע אשר נדרש למשפחה חקלאית יהודית... הציניות כאן מתאימה שכן מדובר על כפר דרומי, שסביבו רק מדבר, וחוות הבודדים אשר הקימו סביבה קיבלו כל אחד כ1000 דונם. ובכל זאת הסכימו, תחת לחץ קשה, לתוכנית זו.
ועתה, עם הקמת הרשות החדשה להסדרת ההתיישבות הבדואית בנגב, זו מעוניינת לשנות את אותה תוכנית ליישוב, ועתה לכל בית אב יוקצה - 2.5 דונם. ההסבר הוא - יספיק לכל בית אב 1/2 דונם לבית, ושני דונם לחקלאות... מנהיגות הכפר מסרבת. האלומות מיועדת לשים עליה לחץ בכדי שתסכים - בעצם להתאבדות כלכלית וחברתית.
הלחץ הגיע לפני סוכות, כאשר באו להרוס בתים בכפר. הכוחות הצליחו להרוס בית אחד, אבל באותו הזמן גם "חיממו" את השטח - קראו לעבר תושבי הכפר, "אנחנו נהרוס את הבתים שלכם ונ...יין את הנשים שלכם!" הניפו אצבע משולשת, ואף ירקו לעבר תושבי הכפר. תושבי הכפר הצליחו למנוע את הריסת הבית השני בכפר, והשוטרים נאלצו לעזוב.
חזרו לפני שבוע, להדביק צווי הריסה חדשים לכפר, כאשר מגיעים הפעם בכוחות מוגברים. תושבי הכפר הצליחו למנוע את כניסת הכוחות, אבל במחיר כבד של אלימות. גז מדמיע שנכנס גם לכותלי בית הספר, כדורי ספוג וכדורים חיים. חזרו אתמול בכדי לעצור את אלה שהאשימו באלימות נגד השוטרים, אבל כל עשרת העצורים שוחררו עוד באותו היום. המשטרה לא הביאה לשופטת ראיות...
על המדינה להפסיק את השימוש באלימות נגד אזרחיה. אנו קוראים להכרה בכל הכפרים, ולתכנון הכפרים באופן אשר ישקף את ערכי השיוויון והצדק.

Thousands Demonstrated in Beer Sheva Today in Protest of the Use of Governmental Force
in order to "convince" the residents of the Village of Bir Hadaj to urbanize

The southern village of Bir Hadaj was recognized by the Government of Israel about a decade ago. The formal process of planning the village was painful as the government managed to force the villagers to accept the very minimal conditions of only one acre of land for agriculture per household. In comparison in a Jewish agricultural community only twenty miles north, every family is allotted 14 acres. However, this was not sufficient for the Israeli Authorities. With the establishment of the New Authority for the Settlement of the Bedouin, headed by Yehuda Bachar, they began a process of erasing the completed village plan, and attempting to pass an alternative village plan, this time with only half an acre (!) of land for agriculture per household. In effect this is a brutal process of urbanization of a community in which about 70% of the adult men and women are illiterate and more than half the villagers make a living from agriculture. This is partially by choice, and partially because there are no employment opportunities. If the government succeeds in its plan - the villagers are doomed to generations of urban poverty and misery.
In order to convince the villagers that it is in their best interest to accept this new and even harsher plan the government authorities came to demolish homes Wednesday, three weeks ago. However, the police also used abusive words towards the villagers, saying "Not only will we demolish your homes, we will also f-ck your women", giving the villagers the finger (I apologize, i do not know if there is a way to write this in a polite manner.) As a response the villagers forced the police force out of the village boundaries. The police returned a week ago Thursday to post more demolition orders, this time arriving 'prepared': tear gas, rubber bullets, and they even used real bullets. With clear memories of the abusive words two weeks earlier, the villagers again managed to stop the police from entering the village.
Yesterday the police entered the village to arrest ten people that they claimed used force against the police. When brought in front of the judge she dismissed the charges, saying that the police is charging these people without sufficient evidence.
We demand that the Government of Israel cease from use of force against its citizens. We call to the Government of Israel to recognize all the unrecognized villages, and plan the villages using guidelines based on equality and justice.

While writing these lines, only a couple of hours after the demonstration, the police demolished again the village of El-Araqib.
