Program Manager Knowledge Generation and Sharing – Peace Education

The European Centre for Conflict Prevention (ECCP) is involved in a global network which aims to strengthen the role of Civil Society in the Prevention of Violent Conflict. The Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) is guided by an International Steering Group (ISG). The tasks of Global Secretariat are fulfilled by ECCP.


GPPAC was established in 2002 in response to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s 2001 report on the Prevention of Armed Conflict, in which he urged civil society to organize its role in the field. GPPAC builds on decades of prevention, resolution and peace-building work throughout the world and is organized through fifteen regional networks, each of which has developed an action agenda to reflect regional principles and priorities.


ECCP is currently looking for an individual to fulfill the function of Program Manager for its Knowledge Generation and Sharing program, with an important emphasis on Peace and Conflict Resolution Education (PCRE).


Main Responsibilities Are:

  • Develop and manage ECCP/GPPAC Knowledge Generation and Sharing program with an emphasis on Peace Education, including finances, fundraising, planning, monitoring and evaluation

  • Assist and co-organize GPPAC program related activities with regional partners

  • Develop and manage PCRE research programs.

  • Develop agenda and co-ordinate the interaction and activities of an international PCRE reference group

  • Liaise with regional offices of GPPAC network, in particular with the Balkan region

  • Responsible for the ECCP in-house information centre (library and on-line)

  • Liaise with scholars and academia especially in the Global South

  • Contribute to donor reporting


Applicant Profile: A dynamic and perceptive civil society networker, committed to conflict prevention and peace-building, with a particular interest in knowledge building and sharing.

Education: University Master’s degree preferred in the field of conflict prevention, peace, development studies or political science.

Work experience: Minimum of 5 years of working experience preferably some of which in a conflict or post-conflict setting.


Knowledge: conversant in the context, opportunities and challenges of conflict prevention and peace-building, in particular with respect to peace and conflict resolution education


Languages: Fluent in English and preferably one other language

Skills: outstanding organization and communication skills within cross-cultural environments; able to establish and maintain a network of professional contacts; politically sensitive; proven writing and editing skills; project management skills and the ability to plan and systematize work well; planning, monitoring and evaluation skills; ability to reconcile interests and points of view; computer literate
