Cordaro on Praying the Our Father as Environmentalist and Existential Theist Frank Cordaro of the Des Moines Catholic Worker recently appeared on the New American Dream Radio Show to discuss how he prays the Our Father from his perspective as a Jewish existential theist and 21st-century environmentalist. Drawing on theologian Wes Howard-Brook’s new book Creation or Empire: A Choice of Religions in the Bible and Beyond, Cordaro works through the prayer line by line, reading “Give us this day our daily bread” as a call away from corporate agriculture and toward right relationship with the earth, and “deliver us from evil” as a reckoning with the ecological destruction of our own making.
