Are there any communities looking for land in Arizona? Friends at Koinonia Farm are looking to sell 80 acres!

Also, the rest of their monthly newsletter is pretty interesting!

Did anyone know that Dorothy actually visited Koinonia Farm in Americus, Georgia for two weeks in 1957? It’s true! Another claim to fame is that it’s the birthplace of Habitat for Humanity. It’s a pretty amazing intentional community that’s been in operation for over 80 years!

Also, I’ve applied and been accepted as an Intern on the farm from Feb to May of next year. Come visit me if you’d like to!

TO OUR FRIENDS IN ARIZONA -
AND BEYOND

Koinonia has been gifted 80 acres in Dateland, Arizona, and we need to find a buyer. The property includes multiple buildings, two wells, partial solar power, and even a swimming pool. If you, or someone you know, might be interested, please reach out to Jim Dubay at j...@koinoniafarm.org.

Grapes, Grapes, & More Grapes!

It is Grape Time at Koinonia!
August is muscadine and scuppernong time at Koinonia Farm. Friends from Concrete Jungle picked 440 pounds of grapes for the Harvest of Hope food pantry in Americus. We also held our annual Great Grape Get-Together with games, grape-picking, and a picnic. There's still plenty out there in the vineyard - come out for U-Pick or stop by our Welcome Center for grapes already packaged and waiting!

My Life Flows On In Endless Song

At Koinonia, we do a lot of singing: in morning chapel, at lunch-time devotions, at Gathered Worship on Sundays, even in the shower!

Justice Is Important, But Supper Is Essential

In addition to singing, we do a lot of eating at Koinonia.

Remembering Jan

Not all our news is joyful. Jan Jordan Zehr, younger daughter of Clarence and Florence Jordan, died on August 10. Another of the Koinonia Kids has passed away. She's pictured here with other children, second from right.

Come, Stay Awhile & Serve

We've said hello and good-bye again. See updates about CSASers on our blog, including a video from the Johnsson Family in Sweden who were with us in October 2024.
Paul Beich, on left, joined us in August, just in time to help with the grape harvest. He's pictured here helping out at the Harvest of Hope Food Pantry.

Brief Thoughts from Bren

If we move our feet toward the table, we’ll learn we share more in common than not. Conversations can move from the small to the common good. Compromise after much listening is not defeat. And maybe, just maybe, enough smalls will add up to something big.

A Word from Clarence

The final showdown is whenever Christians confront the forces and powers of this world. The end of the world is the beginning of the kingdom, just as the end of darkness is the beginning of light. Wherever light and darkness come in conflict, that's the showdown. . . When the [first] Christians were talking about Jesus coming and ushering in the end of the world, they weren't talking about the cataclysmic windup of this physical world. They were talking about the coming of light, a dawn that's coming in the hearts of men [and women].--Clarence Jordan, "The Sermon on the Mount: The Distinct Identity"
