You are warmly invited to join DePaul University for the Sixth Annual Berrigan‑McAlister Award Celebration on May 11, 2026, from 6:30–8:00 PM (CDT). This year’s ceremony will take place in person and via livestream, and we hope you will be able to attend.
The Berrigan‑McAlister Award will be presented to Kathy Kelly, a Chicago‑based peace activist and innovator in nonviolence. Kathy Kelly’s lifelong commitment to active nonviolence includes work with the Pledge of Resistance, the Eighth Day Center, Synapses,
the Catholic Worker, and many other collective efforts opposing militarism, military intervention, and nuclear weapons. She currently serves as Board President of World Without War, a global volunteer network with more than 170 affiliates and chapters worldwide.

About the Berrigan‑McAlister Award
The award honors individuals whose commitment to gospel nonviolence resists injustice, transforms conflict, fosters reconciliation, and seeks justice and peace for all. It is named in honor of Daniel Berrigan, S.J., Philip Berrigan, and Elizabeth McAlister.
This event is organized by the Department of Catholic Studies and sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Center for World Catholicism & Intercultural Theology (CWCIT), Peace, Justice, and Conflict Studies, the Division of Mission & Ministry,
and University Libraries.
