Kiwi Takes Flight
Kiwi music takes to the skies with the announcement of a brand new
partnership between New Zealand's global radio station Kiwi FM and Air
New Zealand. As part of Air New Zealand's expansion of its in-flight
entertainment, Kiwi music will now reach the ears of a potential 1.2
million international passengers every month with the addition of two
genre shows currently broadcast on Kiwi FM.

From November, passengers aboard Air New Zealand 777 and 747 aircraft
can tune in to Down the Back of the Couch featuring gems and rarities
from five decades of NZ Music with Michael Higgins. The second show -
High Noon Tea - is hosted by one of NZ's leading actresses and dub
aficionados, Danielle Cormack. High Noon Tea serves up 100% Kiwi roots
dub reggae.

Karyn Hay, general manager of Kiwi FM said

"Air New Zealand and Kiwi FM are a perfect match for Kiwi's global
mindset. It's a great way to showcase New Zealand music because you're
playing to a captive audience. This is an ideal world scenario: a
record executive or a film producer listening on board a flight
somewhere being so enthused by what they've heard they follow it up
after they land. Or even a punter buying the song they've heard on
board. It can only be advantageous for both the artists and the local
industry."

Steve Bayliss, GM of Marketing for Air New Zealand is excited by the
fresh content Kiwi FM delivers to the already extensive in-flight
schedule saying "We are proud to be working with Kiwi FM on a 100%
Kiwi music initiative, and look forward to additions to the in-flight
schedule in the future".

Onwards, and certainly upwards, for NZ music!
