

If you’re interested in seeing some of these special Pine Bush butterflies and plants, here is a rough timetable…there are many other butterflies and plants, but these are the ones I have documented taking pictures of along the Blueberry West Trail, with dates.
Great spring/early summer butterfly nectar and host plants in the Pine Bush:
• Dune Willows early April
• WILD LUPINES - blooming around May 30th
• NEW JERSEY TEA - blooming around June 21 2015
• CHOKE CHERRY – Prunus Virginiana) late June early summer
• GOATS RUE native plant blooming - June 14th
• PRAIRIE WILLOW in full bloom April 13th 2021

SECOND BROOD July (depends on when first brood flies)
THIRD BROOD – has been recorded in late summer after early warm spring

CATERPILLARS HATCH – mid-May
ADULTS FLYING – end of September into mid-October
