Dear TIC teachers, educators, and friends,

Most of our brown trout are now swimming and eating, and our brook trout are hatching. It’s hard to imagine that in just a few months they will all be on their own in our watershed streams!

In the attached newsletter, you will find important grant opportunities, holiday trout care instructions, and links to upcoming program opportunities. We are also starting a Lesson of the Month section for each newsletter. This month’s lesson is the Trout Lifecyle Puzzle, which was developed by NYC DEP Educators Lindsey Reisz and Akilah Lewis and piloted at the 2022 TIC Fall Teacher Conference. The guide and materials for the activity are attached to this email.

Keep an eye out for our January newsletter, which will include information about scheduling your trout release field trips for Spring 2022.

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!

-Nicki
