Tenantspin and FACT are holding a weekend of hackdays to experiment
with things on their roof terrace garden. I'm hoping to make it
along to some of it, and it'd be cool to hook up some sensors or do
some garden/hardware hacking for it. There might even be a tiny bit
of budget available to buy bits of hardware (Laura, who's organising
it, has a bit of cash for it, but I don't know how much - I suspect
not a lot).
There's a reasonable chance there'd be people from other garden
projects round the city - the last Mediated Garden event I went to
had someone from Metal, and some of the Growing Granby crowd, so
there might be scope to start a little network of garden sensing
projects or something.
If nothing else, I'm hoping to reinstate the monitoring project I'd
done with FACT a couple of years back

Anyway, the details on the hack-weekend from Laura are as follows...
We are holding special weekend hack-days for the Mediated Garden
Project, a collaboratively curated growing space on the roof of the
FACT building. We would love to hear from bloggers, curators,
hackers, film makers, audio gatherers, knitters, painters, writers,
speakers, artists and everyone in between who has an idea about how
to connect the garden space with the outside world using online
spaces, innovative technologies or any kind of artistic practice
which we could document and share on our facebook, twitter, flickr
and vimeo.
This can be using social media, technology, live drawing, knitting,
cross-stitching, talking, singing, film-making, photography or
absolutely anything you feel you’d like to explore as part of a
group and would be willing to hold a small workshop on.
If you would like to take part in the hack-day and have an idea
please write us a short description of the activity/workshop along
with a budget (very small!) if required and we’ll get in contact.
Drop us a line email
laura...@fact.co.uk, (0151) 707 4407 or
tweet us just look for tenantspin or themediatedgarden.
The hack-days will take place on the weekend of the 1st and 2nd
September 11-4 upstairs on the top floor of FACT, we’ll be providing
refreshments.
