All:

This past Saturday Steve W4YHD, Mike KD4LQS, Howard, WD5DBC and myself went to the 79 site to assess if the 79 repeater could be put back on the air.  The outcomes from the day were:

1. The cans were evaluated and tuned.
2. The antenna’s were visually inspected and looked fine.
3. The Vertex Repeater was placed back in-service and 79 placed back on the air.
4. There was a a noise found getting into the repeater when it is using one antenna.  We will be doing additional research to work to correct that issue.

The machine is currently running on split antennas and at an output of 2 watts with no remotes connected.  Our next step will be to make corrections so the power can be raised and then work on the noise issue to get it tx and rx on the same antenna.  Thanks to the team who went up to work on it and to those who helped with testing on the ground, especially Steve W4FMD, Ross WA4KEB and Jason K4JWT.

73,

Shawn

Curious if anyone is playing with DMR? I am working back in DC and will be moving back in the next few months. Pondering radio choices and DMR has me curious. Looks like only two machines cover parts of the NCR though.

Thanks.
