All,
This morning, Ross, WA4KEB, and I installed a new Yaesu DR-1X repeater at the Tysons Corner site to replace the 'squealing' MASTR II unit that has been our mainstay on 91 for more than a decade. This repeater is currently configured for analog FM output and either FM or Yaesu Fusion digital input. The audio seems to be very clean and coverage should be about the same as previous as we are reusing the power amp from the MASTR II and the same antenna as before. The 'white noise' from the co-located government system is still present, but the annoying squeal is gone.
Please check out 91 and drop a note on this reflector with your results. Enjoy!
73,
Bruce, K7BC
PS - A tip of the hat to Steve, W4FMD; Shawn, KA3RQR; and Howard, KI4BNS, for the help testing the new repeater on-the-air.
PPS - At the next NVFMA General Membership meeting on 18 June we will be talking about our plans for the 79 repeater.
