Our next AREDN meetup will be on Tuesday, 5/29, at 6:00 PM at NovaLabs in Reston (map) in Classroom A.  The purpose of this meeting will be to prepare for the AREDN-in-the-Park activity on 6/10.  If you need help flashing or configuring your node hardware, please bring it to the meeting.  The environment will be more forgiving there, with air conditioning, AC power, and no glare on laptop screens.  Let's try to get a mesh set up and running to try out some basic applications like iPerfSpeed and MeshChat.  There will be people present familiar with setting up nodes and installing these tools.  If your node equipment is already running smoothly, feel free to bring other applications that you want to try out on the mesh network (e.g., switches, RaspberryPi servers, IP phones, etc.).  We will have a conventional 2.4 GHz "civilian band" WiFi AP connected to a node as well, so bring a laptop, tablet, or smartphone to join the mesh network even if you don't have AREDN-compatible hardware.  Thank you to Mike AF9B for arranging our use of the room at NovaLabs.

The upcoming AREDN-in-the-Park activity will be a great opportunity for exposure to AREDN.  We will be able to accommodate a larger group and can spread out around the park as needed so feel free to invite a friend or your club membership to come check it out.
