Hi crew!

I just learned that I am going to interview for the position of Education Program Coordinator at Check Your Head on Tuesday Sep 30.

The role is responsible for developing the education, volunteer and youth engagement programming, notably their social/environmental workshops.

**As part of the interview, I've been asked to teach the interviewers something in 15 minutes.  What are some things that I can teach?

<3

Much gratitude,

Lucinda

Hey Luce,

That's amazing, way to go :)
Here is a very short brainstorm on different topics that might be applicable (??)

Self-care for activists
How to run a meeting
Facilitating skills 101
Local food security in Vancouver
How to be an ally

All the best!!

I would be excited to learn more about the community you serve and come from coupled with food security issues you've worked on! Using story!

Awesome Lu!!!

Since the role is around developing programming, I think whatever topic you choose to teach, it might be good to think of different ways to engage the "learners" (interviewers).  Some suggestions I would have is think of an activity that could be part of your "teaching" where the interviewers are participating in whatever they're learning.  This could be anything from brainstorming with post-its where they write ideas/questions down, or using visuals or "games" to help illustrate a point.

An example that comes to mind is when Bambi Tait did the de-colonization workshop with us, and had a list of historic events related to federal policy towards Indigenous people that we had to put in a timeline ourselves, that we went over together after.  Or when she read out rules of the Indian Act and we had to guess if they were true or not, to illustrate how arbitrary and absurd the Act was.

Hope that helps!  Let me know if you want to chat more before your interview! And good luck!

xo

Thanks for so much thoughtful input!
