NRV Mushroom Club Mid-County Park Walk

Sunday, May 20th at 10:00AM

Mid-County Park 390 Cinnabar Rd, Christiansburg, VA 24073

We will have a walk to collect mushrooms and then sit down with our books where available to see what we can ID.

•    We will meet at the parking lot for the Golden Hills Disc Golf course (as opposed to the Frog Pond Parking lot)

•    Please RSVP to nrvmush...@gmail.com so we know how many people to expect

•    Let us know your cell number, so we can communicate if plans change

•    Bring field guides, bug spray, poncho in case of light rain (we will cancel if a major storm is called for), baskets, collecting bags, and/or tackle boxes (craft boxes) for small specimens, pocket knife, hand lenses, cameras, water, snacks, if wanted

•    This will be an opportunity to make a $15 Individual or $20 Friends and Family dues donation for the year which will allow us to have regular walks and events with speakers/presenters at times. We are an affiliated club of the North American Mycological Association namyco.org . If you are not a member and are interested in joining, please see our Treasurer, Joanne Huntington, at the this event to join.

Directions

From North/South bound I-81

Take exit 118B towards Blacksburg/Christiansburg. You will be on 460W. Drive 5.2 miles and take exit 4B/VA 114E. Turn left on Pepper's Ferry Rd NE. Pepper's Ferry Rd NE curves sharply left and becomes Cinnabar Rd. Continue .7 miles to your destination on the right, near the solid waste authority, 390 Cinnabar Rd.

From Blacksburg via 460E

Take exit 4A/B toward VA-114E. Turn left on Pepper's Ferry Rd NE. Pepper's Ferry Rd NE curves sharply left and becomes Cinnabar Rd. Continue .7 miles to your destination on the right, near the Solid Waste Authority, 390 Cinnabar Rd

Check yourself for ticks after today’s walk. I just found a tiny one on my upper leg. I wore long pants but it still made it’s way up my pants.
