ENERGY DIRECT PROJECT
KINDER MORGAN/TENNESSEE GAS
PIPELINE OPEN HOUSES
STOP NY FRACKED GAS PIPELINE has
announced that it will assemble at three upcoming Kinder Morgan/ Tennessee Gas
Pipeline “Open Houses” concerning their proposed pipeline called “Northeast
Energy Direct”. These “Open Houses” are generally “one on one” conversations
with citizens and are not a question and answer session, nor are they debates.There are no other appearances scheduled by Kinder Morgan in either Rensselaer or Albany County, NY at this time.
This volunteer group is
meeting at the Kinder Morgan Open Houses in direct response to increasing
public opposition to this fracked gas pipeline and to this inadequate format.
This grassroots group was formed to
stop the expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure in New York and beyond and to
promote sustainable, renewable sources of energy
conservation and efficiency instead.
Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline
plans to provide New York Citizens with information either not being discussed
by Kinder Morgan or to shine a light on areas that need more clarification. Richard
Kinder of Kinder Morgan Company is a former Chief Operating Officer and President for the now bankrupt
Enron Corporation from 1990 to 1996.
In addition to the fracked
gas pipeline, this project will also include compressor stations and other
infrastructure to be built in New York without providing any gas to New York
and will leave behind environmental damages, foster property value loss, along
with multiple health and safety risks for New Yorkers. New York would become
nothing more than a transit vessel for corporate gain at public expense.
Kinder Morgan has been invited
to various Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline public events since June 2014 and has
never participated or even responded. Kinder Morgan has not accepted an open
invitation by WAMC radio in Albany, NY to appear in a debate with members of
Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline.
