Dear Fellow Social Worker

Congratulations.  You have made NPSW LinkedIn Group Fifty Thousand (50,000) Strong.  We have reached another milestone of connecting with 50,000 professional Social Workers across the globe through our NPSW LinkedIn Group.  Thank you for your continuous support. Special Thanks to our Admin Team.

I am happy to see that Social Workers began to discuss about Fair Pay.

Aren't we Social Workers underpaid? Do you feel we are paid fairly for your professional education, professional skills, licensure and work we do? How do we advocate and fight for Fair Pay?

I do agree, there are a few Social Workers who managed to reach Administrative and Leadership Positions, or successful in Private Practice make decent income. Those are exceptions. Some of you may be very satisfied with your pay and may not agree with Social Workers being underpaid. This discussion is not for those exceptions.  This is for those who feel Social Workers are being underpaid and want to advocate for Fair Pay.  Many Social Workers after their MSW and LCSW leave Social Work profession. There is a significant migration of Social Workers into other professions happening. Many do multiple jobs to meet their ends meet. I personally know many MSW level social workers went back to school to study Nursing.  In general Social Workers are paid very low and even CNN Money.com ranked Social Work as the one of the lowest paid and most stressful professions. Even President Obama had mentioned during his recent Ask President Obama interview on YouTube that Helping Professions like Social Work and Teaching don’t pay well. I request your opinion and suggestion.
