Community Coordinator

The Eighth Police District is a very unique area and serves as the
heartbeat of the City of New Orleans. In order to keep this diverse
community safe, the NOPD must continue to create lasting relationships
with this area’s citizens. This community has already done a
tremendous job at forging relationships with the NOPD, but we are
striving to do even more. One of the most traditional, yet important
ways to increase dialogue is for officers to meet residents and
business owners personally, which essentially means “walking the
beat”.



With that sentiment in mind, Superintendent Serpas has created the
position “Community Coordinator” within each police district, whose
functions include serving as a liaison between citizens and the NOPD,
providing a link for citizens to voice concerns, assisting in the
coordination and the creation of new community organizations,
attending neighborhood meetings and facilitating crime prevention and
safety classes. Sergeant Jonette Williams has been given this
important position and looks forward to working with each of you.
Additionally, Officer Roger Jones will continue to serve as the
Quality of Life Officer.
