Sixth District Officers arrest subject wanted for shooting in Baton
Rouge, LA
On Monday, August 2 at 2:55am, Officer Brandon Ostarly assigned to
the Sixth District had the occasion to investigate a traffic violation
involving reckless operation near the intersection of Earhart blvd and
Magnolia Street.
After making contact with the driver, Mr. Anthony K. White, he began
to make statements about a shooting he was involved in. Mr. White
stated that earlier in the evening at about 7:00pm, Sunday, August 1,
2010, while in Baton Rouge, he shot his girlfriend in their residence.
Mr. White instructed the Officers to retrieve a 9mm automatic pistol
which was on the passenger side of the seat along with a sawed off
shotgun which was located in the trunk.
The Officers contacted members of the Investigative unit in and for
the City of Baton Rouge, La. The specifics of the Investigation where
relayed to the Detectives and at this time they made arrangements to
do an on scene interview.
The Detectives informed the Officers Mr. White had set the residence
of his girlfriend on fire with an accelerant on Friday July 30, 2010.
On Sunday, August 2, 2010, at 7:00pm. Mr White went back to the
residence and began shooting at the victim at which time she sustained
a gun shot wound to the upper left chest area. She is currently
hospitalized for her injuries.
Baton Rouge Detectives relocated to the 6th District and took
possession of Mr. White and the firearms and transported the arrested
subject to Baton Rouge where he shall be booked with Attempted Murder,
Arson and violating a protection order.
