Purse Snatching - 1600 Prytania Street - Cleared by Arrest

On Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at 1142a, a purse snatching occured in the
1600 block of Prytania. Dispatch put out a description of the
perpetrator over the NOPD radio, and responding detective's observed a
subject matching the description near Lasalle and St. Andrew
streets.

As Detectives and responding units converged on the subject, a witness
pulled up to the scene and informed the officers that the subject,
Later identified as David Buckley, black male, date of birth 9/22/58,
was the subject responsible for the purse snatching. The victim then
identified Buckley as the subject that took her purse and fled on a
bicycle.

During the investigation, Buckley confessed to the purse snatching and
told officers where he stashed the purse. Officers found property
belonging to the victim in the pockets of Buckley.

Also found on Buckley was property from an Auto Burglary that occured
on Rampart Street in the French Quarter. Buckley confessed to this
crime as well.
