hey all

verdi and i have been talking to Peachpit about getting us a discount on our books
so we can give them to folks who are teaching at Nodes and or schools.
they actually give a pretty good discount if we are not re-selling them.

is there anyone who doesnt have one that wants one for teaching?
can i get a head count?

we wanted to use vloggercon money for this
so i wanted to check in with y'all to make sure that was ok too.

alrighty
let me know!

brings up a question i have been wondering about

is it cool to hold a videoblogging workshop and use node101 funds to supply a book for each person?

of course, my preference would be to use ry and michael's book, but it could apply to anyone's and might very with the workshop

it occurred to me during the last one in SB that I would have loved to have had a copy of SoVB for everyone there.

is that considered a conflict of interest?  (I know you get those huge royalty checks ;) )

in all seriousness, does anyone see a problem with that?

I don't really need anymore books, I have the Videobloggin for dummies, that's all I need and practical DV video photography, and scriptwriting for dummies also.

Uh, yes!

I'm going to be teaching a couple one-time classes / lectures over the next few months, and I'm working on lining up a on-going workshop for later in the fall winter (like 4 weeks or something). I'd love to give away one or two books at the lectures (and get the rest of the people interested in buying their own) and give one to everyone in the workshop classes (I have no idea how many people that might be at this point).

This is a great idea. Maybe send me a half dozen books to start, and I'll let you know if I can put more to use after that.

If it is not too much trouble i woul love to use one.

It would be nice to have something physical for people to check out. It will also probably make some people buy the book too.

I would like to have one for teaching. But, along the lines of what Jen
said, I have been asked to give two vlogging workshops this semester
and would love to have an extra book or two to give away as a "prize"
and simultaneously promote it to the people who attend. So if that is
okay, I could use three, but if not, one is great.

Oh yes, do use Vloggercon money to get a stash of giveaways and for mailing expenses, too.

Giving them as prizes for first new vlog up at an event or some such thing would be brilliant.

Jan

P.S. I'd love to have a couple around, too.

cool
i'm glad people want to use them.
i will get enough for people to have two for passing around at workshops.
it's going to get pricey if everyone wants half a dozen to give away.
it's worked well for us to have even one floating around our workshops
and then we point people to our amazon link on freevlog.

and it would be cool to have jay's book on hand as well.
so i'll let him handle getting a discount with wiley....
and we can get some of those as well.
