Is getting outta hand.

http://node101.org/community/index.php/Main_Page

I have yet to figure out how to restore a page.

Can someone walk me through it, please :)

Jan

fyi, if it is a mediawiki then there is a mod that the admin can make
that requires that the user's email be confirmed before they can make a
first post. i am using it on my spincast.net/wiki together with a
strategy of incredibly boring topics :)

not sure it is helping, but we might try it.

link is: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Email_authentication_before_editing

simple to add to php code. i can do it if i get ftp access and write
privs to wiki folder.

Verdi has access to the server, I believe.
we could also just mve everything over to a PBwiki...which
intelligently prevents spam from happeneing (so far).

what do you think?
ill be glad to do the switch over since there arent that many pages.

I'm liking the PBwiki - if it's not too much trouble to move it - though I
know Verdi's spent a lot of time customizing the extant wiki...would those
efforts be lost?

I'm thinking it's fine to move it to PBWiki. It will make it easier to
move the whole thing to my server. I've been wanted to move the
NODE101 stuff to for awhile but it's the whole moving databases around
that's a pain. I've got the main site redone in Wordpress which I now
know how to move. If we transfer the wiki to PBWiki that will be taken
care of. All that'll be left is for the nodes with Moveable Type blogs
to set up their own blogs either on their own accounts or a free place
like Blogger or Wordpress.com. That will make it much much easier from
an admin standpoint.

Is there a way to export from one wiki system to another?
Specifically, MediaWiki (current Node101 wiki) to PBWiki?

If anyone finds this documentation, I will send them a box of cookies.

Also, the current Node101 wiki should require you to login before
editing a page, which should prevent spam. There may have been
existing spam though. You can always rollback a page to a previous
version though (one of the great things about Wikis). Click the
"History" tab at the top of any page and you can compare versions and
rollback to a previous edit.
