Hey Guys,

So we're about to make the official announcement tonight on the group
but wanted to email the Node101ers about a couple of things...

The 2nd Annual Halloween Videoblog Festival is happening on Saturday,
October 28th, from 7pm-11pm at the Yahoo Campus in Santa Monica. We
have people from Yahoo, Google, TV Guide, and Jeff Pulver's Network2.tv
sponsoring. We're also welcoming the "Amanda Across America" project to
LA. There will be folks from NYTimes, LATimes and TechCrunch there as
well as a couple of camera crews.

We'll be asking videobloggers to make scary videos to be screened at
the Yahoo Campus. We're also talking to TV Guide about promoting the
videos that are screened on their channel. Their goal is to become a
bridge between traditional media and new media - and hopefully help the
videoblogging community gain exposure en masse. Network2.tv will also
be at the helm, interviewing videobloggers and promoting the videos of
the Halloween Videoblog Festival.

Videobloggers who want to attend are invited... RSVP necessary. Let me
know if you'd like to party! If you can't make it - no worries. ALL of
it will be online. And the videos will live virtually on
halloweenvlogfest.com (new site up asap).

Videobloggers will have one week to make the scariest video ever.

This is meant to be more than just a Halloween party however, and
another non-holiday video festival is being planned in the future.
We're hoping to collaborate on that as well.

The main point of the email to this group is that we'd like to donate
some of the proceeds to Node 101. Not sure how much at the moment, but
we would like to be true to the spirit of the medium in helping to
continue the tradition of teaching others to videoblog and helping to
support independent video makers.

At this point we need some of our friends to help out with logistical
stuff, and contribute any ideas on how to make this better. If you have
any ideas let me know - I'm ALL ears...

Outrageously, Deliciously, Incredible. Not sure I can lend anything to this kind of momentum, but I'm here if needed. Bravo!

Cool. The main thing would be to contribute via video! Scare the crap
out of all us in 60 seconds. Maybe a special scary Weekend-Weather... ;)

But the most important question I failed to include in the last email
was:

Who do we make the check out to once the time comes? And where do we
send it to? Also, is there any other way to gain more visibility for
Node101? There will be cameras there so is there a banner we can use
or perhaps there is a Node101 video that can be screened? We'd like
to take full advantage of this opportunity.

I know Node 101 is not a legal entity... yet.

It has been driven mostly by the spirit of community

How did it work with Vloggercon? I thought a check had been made out to Node101...

For Vloggercon, checks were made out to "vloggercon", which we made a
business entity for tax purposes. So we have an acct that the money
sits in and we make out checks to whoever needs it (and ask for
reciepts if they can).

So, for instance, we just gave VlogEurope $2000 from this acct.

So if you want to put it in this acct, you are more than welcome. Or
you can hold onto it and when something happens that you think could
use the money, donate it under Node101 (so the site gets some
linklove).

as schlomo said, write checks to Vloggercon.
this is where Node101 money goes.
you can see the accounting here:

i think itd be great if you guys could donate some funds to help out.

unfortnately, our banner was lost sending it to the unofficial
Vloggercon in Europe.
you could probably have a new one made with our funds....
Verdi hopefully still has the Image you can send to Kinko's.

Okay - cool.

Yeah, Michael, if you can send the file over to me, that would be
great. I'll have one printed up. Do you remember what the cost of
printing was?

After the festival Lan can take the sign for the OC Node101 videoblog
meetups. Unless it should go back to Vloggercon headquaters.

Z.

PS - Everyone on this list is invited to the Halloween party - so
just send an RSVP if you'd like to come. It's on October 28th,
7pm-11pm. We'd like everyone who can come to come, of course! Fun! :)

it was the vloggercon sign that was lost
not the node101 sign
which i believe is still at schlomos somewhere....

That's cool. If you find it send it over with the address to Milan
and we'll send it off once we're done!

please if you send it to milan
get insurance if you can
or use FEd EX as opposed to the USPS
because USPS lost the Vloggercon banner
and wouldn't let me buy insurance for over seas.
which is totally fucked in the first place.

Which to my knowledge has been spent on renting an apartment for the needy
as agreed. Let me know where I can download a digital copy and I'll check
around for prices. It was printed on a plastic-like material, right?

Just a thought guys but me and paul knight are coming over to san fran
for the vloggies (last chance i'll get to the states until later on
next year i think) on the 4th november for 4 days so if there is
anything that needs to go to the vlogeurope event - node101 banners or
anything else if you bring it to the vloggies event i'll bring it back
to the uk and take it on to the milan event as we are going to that as
well.

Just a thought....

That's good thinking. I'll still check into printing a node101 banner. If
Fabrizio is starting a more formal Italian organization I bet he can use
one regardless.

Hey Sclomo - if you find the banner in the next day or so, remember
to mail it to:

Smashface Productions
PO Box 3703
Beverly Hills, CA 90212

If not, Michael - can you email me the EPS file and I'll see how much
it would cost at Kinkos?

Also - The new Halloween Videoblog site is up!: http://
halloweenvlogfest.com

If you're in Los Angeles, RSVP. I want you to COME! :)

Let me know if I should include additional text where I describe
Node101.

ALSO - A BIG ALSO!!! - The node101 site is down. I've been trying to
access it since yesterday and no luck. Does anyone know what's up?

Z.
