Re:Vision just launched a national eco-literacy poster competition and would love to have your support in spreading the word. (www.urbanrevision.com/envision2050). They have gathered biodiversity scientists, experts, artists, activists,
and more to provide a foundation of knowledge for kids as they ask the
question: What will the place I live in now be like in the year 2050?
Why ask children to create posters about the future? On the surface,
creating a poster allows them to express and share their dreams and
fears about their rapidly changing world. Beyond that, creating a
poster begins the process of connection to solutions, to knowledge of
natural systems, to an awareness of where they DO live now, and to
begin to consider what will change. Envisioning their future is
empowering for all of us.
On June 5, World Environment Day, they will have a both a virtual exhibit
of all the posters submitted and a national simultaneous exhibit of the
visions of our youth in museums and city halls.
