Dear friends,
Just a quick note to update you on the family that I wrote about a few weeks ago.
Our community came through in a BIG way. Folks donated money, clothing and food, a community member drove them to PHX and back for an immigration appointment, someone loaned them space heaters, and then, another generous community member welcomed them into their house (with heat and warm friendship)! We’ve also gotten them advice from immigration lawyers. I could not be prouder of how our community has stepped up to help these folks in need!
While their immediate and most urgent needs have been met, they still need a longer-term place to live. Rents in Flagstaff are insane, especially for folks in their situation. Does anyone have a mother-in-law’s quarters or know of an apartment that would be willing to rent below the market rate? This would be for 3 adults (the parents and a brother), and an adorable toddler. (I can put you in touch with the place their staying for a reference: They are friendly, hardworking, and responsible!
Also, the father and brother really want to work. Does anyone need any maintenance work, yard work, shoveling snow, raking pine needles, preparing a garden plot...anything to provide some cash income.
Thanks for letting me know if you have any ideas. And thanks for all that so many of you have already done!
Best,
Bob (and a huge community of folks who care)
