The only miracle of Jesus recorded in all four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) in the Bible is the day he fed 5,000 people with only five loaves and two fish! When the miracle was over the people began to say, “This is the Prophet who is to come into the world”
(John 6:14).
The people were right in their observation! Jesus is the Prophet of whom Moses predicted, the Messiah of God: “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to him" (Deut 18:15).
However, their enthusiasm got the best of them. “Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself” (John 6:15). Jesus always lived with a clear sense of his divine purpose. He wouldn’t let anyone get him off track by either tempting him to sin or by exalting him as king.
You will meet people in life who will pull you down to the lowest level. You will also meet people who will try to lift you up to a place that is contrary to God’s will for you. They will try to make you what they want you to be by force.
Resist the pressure of others by withdrawing to a place of prayer to get direction from the Lord for your life. Success and promotion don’t come by force but by the favor of God in his perfect time so that we can do his perfect will. It’s not by force that we get ahead in life, it’s by faith! Trust him more and you won’t have to try so hard.
