Patty Lessard's Health

Dear NIDG folks,

I believe many of you know Patty Lessard but may not know that her health is declining.  Her care is being transferred to hospice.  She has impacted many of our lives.  Her husband has asked that we share the news.

Dan Veltri has graciously and generously agreed to scan, edit, and create a visual tribute.

Patty Lessard kicked our butts, in all the right ways, during the Ohlone IPP and helped me become the interpreter I am today. She really raised the standards and expectations of ASL interpreting. She was also instrumental in modeling and mentoring how to interpret for dissertation defenses and supporting Deaf people in academia.  I'll be looking through paper and digital photos asap and send to Dan.

Hi all,

I just got this from Paul, Patty’s husband:

Patty passed away at 6:35 tonight. Per her wishes she will be cremated. I have been thinking about having a memorial service in the fall. I will let everyone know when the details are worked out. 😢
