Fortunately, Bristol Yacht Club frostbites on Saturdays so it doesn't generally conflict with Portland and Marblehead - see below

Greetings Frostbiters and Friends,

Time to wrap it up - Mayday just around the corner.

Saturday 3/30 was it for the season, sunny day with challenging WNW winds.  Bullets to Steve Kosacz, Ralph Kinder (1) and Adam Langerman (3).  David Crawley third.

For those who were unable to attend our last "Talking Sandwiches" session (and for reference when we start up in October), here are a few bullets from our last post-race gathering, celebrating a 2023-24 season that for sure saw fun times on/off Bristol Harbor:

Our 5 1/2 months of frostbiting again benefitted from our PRO for last 15 years Will Pierce. Thanks also to Pete Turenne for launching/driving Hercules and Kim Bottomley for serving up happy times after the races.

Thanks also to the many BYC Volunteers who helped deliver 1,000 starts with 160 races over 16 days to our 30 active Laser and Aero racers. These volunteers ran races, set marks, scored and took photos. Tip-of-the-frostbite-cap to Nancy and Ian Clarke, Peter Maloney, Charlie Payne and Steve Crocker for their many days on the water along with Bob Yaylaian, David Stephens, Doug Larouche, Jim Flynn, Sue McKay and Tom Hagen who also spent time on Bristol Harbor so our fleet could enjoy a tremendous frostbite season.

Zim Sailing donated a nearly-new ILCA hull to East Bay Sailing Foundation, BYC's Youth and Adult Sailing Program, for winter frostbite and youth regattas.  Readying this hull for this year's season and upcoming summer made possible by gear from Ronstan International, Intensity Sails, BYC Member John Bell and our resident World Champion Peter Seidenberg. And direct donations totaling $525 from this year's frostbiters.

Camaraderie, sailing on Bristol Harbor, learning and "Talking Sandwiches far, far outweigh fame and fortune in the BYC FBS Fleet, however we do keep track.  Season results - races, scoring, overall stats - same place as always: bit.ly/byc-fbs-results.

Congratulations to Laser fleet winners: William DeLong, Adam Langerman and Faye Flam in the Fall Series, and Flip Myerson, David Crawley and Faye Flam in the Winter Series. Aero honors go to Eric Aker, Patrick Chokron and Jeff Curtis in the Fall series and to Eric Aker and runner-up Jeff Curtis in the Winter match race series. Awards courtesy of Zim Sailing.

Kudos to Eric Aker for 100% perfect attendance and to Faye Flam, Adam Langerman, Dave Guinther, John Bergland and Shaun Hogan for tallying 50 races or more over the two series.

The first race of the BYC 2024-25 Frostbite Season will be Saturday, October 19th.  Stuffies Anyone ?

Hope you can sail with us again next year – looking forward to Talking Pizzas, more discussions on rules, and a PA system on the frostbite shack,

Dave and Flip
