Khurram Jamal Shahid
Dear Members,
Greetings from NHN Secretariat.
We would like to share with you an important global survey on localization, equitable partnerships, capacity strengthening, and solidarity, being conducted by Crescendo International with support from the Gates Foundation. The survey aims to capture the perspectives and lived experiences of local and national civil society organizations and will inform global discussions on the future of humanitarian action. We strongly encourage senior staff of member organizations to participate, as the survey focuses on organizational policies, funding, and decision-making processes. The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
Your participation is highly valuable and will help ensure that local and national voices meaningfully shape policy, funding, and partnership frameworks at the global level.
We would also request you to share this survey with non NHN members.

I am writing to ask for your assistance in distributing an important global survey on localization, equitable partnerships, capacity strengthening, and solidarity. This survey is part of a global research study conducted by Crescendo International, with support from the Gates Foundation. The survey findings will be complemented by regional virtual convenings to help understand emerging themes and engage local actors in dialogue. The Crescendo International research team includes regional experts in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East regions who contributed to the research design and will facilitate the convenings.
Over the past decade, the humanitarian system has undergone significant shifts. This research aims to better understand how the roles, capacities, and lived experiences of local and national civil society organizations—and their relationships with international partners—have evolved during this period. The results of this survey will be compared with findings from a similar study conducted 10 years ago. We would value not only like to have your own insights, but also those of organizations in your network. To ensure that local and national leadership can meaningfully shape the future of humanitarian action, influence policy and funding conversations, and drive more equitable partnerships, we need to hear their perspectives and understand how their organizations are adapting to significant shifts in the sector. Therefore, I need your help in getting this survey out to as many local and national organizations as possible.
Survey details
As a thank-you, participants who complete the survey may opt into a raffle for a free consultation with an expert in organizational capacity strengthening and resource mobilization.
Thank you for sharing your time, expertise, and perspective. We warmly encourage you to share the survey link with peer organizations in your network, as we welcome participation from CSOs and other local organizations.
With appreciation,
Pilar and the EMR team
