The Game is Afoot
Those of you who have glanced over a summary of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 may have noticed a fair amount of money, and tax breaks, headed for renewables, research, and other climate change related stuff. If you have not already done so, and you have a relationship at present with a federal department in your work, you may want to see what they are up to in this area. Rumor has it that the 2010 federal budget may have new things re all this in it also.
Smart Grid?
A significant buzz phrase in D.C.

Carbon Disclosure Project update.
A question from a fellow Extension educator sent me to the Carbon Disclosure Project website http://www.cdproject.net/index.asp to check on something. I noticed some changes, so here they are. As you may recall the CDP is a group working for trillions of dollars worth of investors. They do an annual questionnaire to the top several thousand companies re their efforts on climate change adaptation and mitigation to climate change. As i go over in my workshop, the questionnaire and supporting materials can provide you with a nice start on an outline for climate change strategy, or energy strategy.
There has been a re-write of the questionnaire, and their is now a separate one on "supply chain".
Questionnaires:
2009: http://www.cdproject.net/Investor-Questionnaire.asp
Previous ones: http://www.cdproject.net/Previous_Questionnaire.asp
2009 Supply chain (available after 04/01/2009): http://www.cdproject.net/CDP_SupplyChain-Questionnaire.asp
2008 Supply chain: http://www.cdproject.net/previous_SupplyChain-questionnaire.asp

Questionnaire methodology: http://www.cdproject.net/2009CDLImethodology.asp
Glossary: http://www.cdproject.net/glossary.asp
Note: And still the top business tools* for answering the thing (and probably doing cc & energy management) are still at:
http://www.ghgprotocol.org/
* For folks in the public sector, please remember the "tools" include stuff on vehicle fleets, office buildings, small offices, land use, etc. So you may find them of use also.
