This is a friendly reminder that all repositories/organizations from github.ncsu.edu must be migrated to GitHub Cloud by December 2025. Course-related organizations and repositories have an extended deadline of May 2026.

If you need assistance with the migration, please submit a help ticket to csc_...@ncsu.edu, and my team will guide you through the process.

Please check the GitHub migration guide regularly (especially FAQs at the bottom of the page), as we are continuously updating it with important details and information.

Best,
Carlos

Here is the NCSU GitHub Cloud Enterprise Environment Quick Guide for CSC, as promised—special thanks to Dr. Ignacio Dominguez for his valuable contributions to this guide and the GitHub migration tools.
Please take the time to review the guide in its entirety. Remember that our organization structure and configuration in the cloud are still being refined as we continue testing. We will do our best to keep this guide updated with any changes.

Thanks,

Carlos

The migration of the NCSU GitHub instance from github.ncsu.edu to GitHub.com Cloud is progressing, and action will be required from all repository and organization owners on github.ncsu.edu over the coming months.

To ensure a smooth transition, please take note of the following timelines and guidelines:
  • CSC Course-Related Repositories and Organizations:
    • All CSC course-related repositories and organizations currently hosted on github.ncsu.edu must be migrated to github.com by **May 2026**. These will be consolidated under a dedicated GitHub Cloud organization for CSC Coursework: **ncstate-csc-coursework**. This extended deadline (compared to the official December 2025 deadline) is to allow CSC faculty volunteers more time to test the new environment within the shared organization: **ncstate-csc-coursework**
    • If you have already begun preparing your Fall 2025 courses on github.ncsu.edu, you may continue to do so. However, we strongly recommend you start planning your migration to the new cloud environment in Spring 2026. We are still accepting a few more faculty volunteers to help test the new Cloud organization this summer. If you are interested in participating, please email me directly.
  • Non-Course-Related Repositories and Organizations:
    • All repositories and organizations on github.ncsu.edu that are unrelated to coursework must be migrated to github.com by **December 2025**. If you are an owner of a github.ncsu.edu organization containing content related to NCSU business (e.g., research, infrastructure), it should be migrated to the department's main GitHub Cloud organization: **ncstate-csc**.
We will soon share documentation about the new environment and relevant resources to help you with this process. Also, we'll send out a Google form to gather more details about your current usage of github.ncsu.edu and identify any issues that could cause nuisances in the new environment.

I appreciate your cooperation as we move forward with this critical migration.

Best regards,

Carlos
