Hi folks -

Just a quick reminder that the application deadline to participate in the Marbles Backwards Science Fair is this Friday, March 13. (See info below.)

This is a really fun event, and a great way to showcase your research.  You can read all about last year's event here.

If you have any questions, or would like some help coming up with ideas for how to turn your research into a fun, engaging, hands-on activity for kids, please reach out to me.

Best regards,

Jory

Hi folks - Please help spread the word about this great opportunity!  It's open to all NC State researchers (faculty, postdocs, grad students, undergrads, staff).
Are you an NC State researcher who is excited to share your STEM research with an audience (kids!) that is curious and loves to explore and learn about the world around them?
Would you like to do this in a fun and novel way (and maybe win prizes)?

If so, consider applying to participate in Marbles Kids Museum "Backwards Science Fair"!  It's just like the science fair competitions you competed in as a child, but this time you are the competitors and the kids are the judges!

The event will take place at Marbles Kids Museum in downtown Raleigh on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 1-3pm. There will be "Kids' Choice Awards", food and fun for all! As space is limited, please keep teams small but there is no strict size limit!

To apply, please visit the following link by 5pm ET on Friday, March 13, 2026.

If you have questions, or would like to participate, but don't currently have an engaging, hands-on STEM activity built around your research, please feel free to reach out to me (Jory Weintraub, Director of Science Engagement, wein...@ncsu.edu) and I'd be happy to meet with you and help you come up with some ideas.

This event is co-sponsored and co-organized by Marbles Kids Museum and NC State's Office of University Interdisciplinary Programs, and is an event of the NC Science Festival."
