New Script: The Days of the Old School Yard

From ACF_287, we have a new script entering Beta. This script has two
scenes for seven characters! Due to the the number of characters and
scenes I'm putting it down as a Level 2 script. I think the scenes
should move pretty quickly however.

Please congratulate ACF_287 on this first mystery and please send me
any feedback about the script and I'll be sure to forward it on. Looks
like fun!

The Premise:

At the Penwood School reunion for the class of '88, old friends and
enemies find themselves caught up in murder. Beautiful, successful
Patricia Grantham was found dead on the hall stage, seated on the "May
Queen" throne and wearing a tiara. The former leader of the school's
popular set has been the victim of a sick and vicious attack, and
there is no lack of suspects. Many people disliked Patricia Grantham -
but who hated her enough to carry their grudge as far as murder?

The Characters:

Chris 'Mac Man' Brook
Has no very fond memories of Penwood school – he was bullied there for
being a “geek”. He is now a very successful software designer, and not
bad-looking either. The nickname given to him as an insult he know
wears with a certain amount of ironic pride.

Susan Grantham
The daughter of Patricia & Robin, she wants to rebel against her
suburban upbringing but is not sure how. She is currently a year 11
pupil at the same school as her parents attended. (N.B. Year 11 =
15/16 years old)

Lillian 'Lil Bitz' Bitzer
Short, bubbly and confident, Lillian always made friends easily.
Although not one of the official “popular” crowd when at Penwood, Lil
managed to avoid becoming the target of any bullies. Since leaving
school she has travelled widely all over the world. She makes a modest
living writing travel books and articles.

Henrietta 'Hatty' James
Started at Penwood in 1985, is due to retire at the end of this
academic year. She taught the class of ’88, and she now teaches
Susan’s class. Before coming to teach History and English at Penwood
school, she was deputy head of a primary school in another town quite
far away from Penwood.

Philbert Plumb
Has been at Penwood for his entire career – he started as a lad of 17,
assistant to the old caretaker. In the fullness of time, he became
caretaker himself. He could have retired years ago, but chose not to.
His loyalty is to the school – he has seen pupils and staff come and
go, but the Penwood remains.

Alex 'Weakling' Wakeling
The nickname is a joke - he was one of the school's leading athletes.
He didn't court the popular crowd, but his success on the playing
fields meant that he never lacked for followers. He has had a
reasonably successful athletics career and now does "celebrity"
endorsements.

Robin Grantham
Patricia's husband. Attended Penwood School two years above Patricia &
the others. Got a good career in advertising, climbing the ladder at a
steady rate. Knew Alex at school from both being on sports teams, but
lost touch since leaving Penwood. Didn’t mean to be a bully, but could
be hurtful in the unthinking manner of the popular & successful to
those not similarly blessed. He is very aware of appearances and
rarely looses his temper – especially in public.

Thanks to admin for putting my script up - and thanks to everyone who
is playing it right now! You guys are really getting into the
characters and bringing out their personalities.

When you complete a game, would you please let me have a copy of your
"notes" - if you kept any during the game play. It would help me to
see if I've made the plot too obvious, or too obscure. Also, could
you mention if you noticed any mistakes or inconsistancies. I'm
currently working on a second script, and feedback from this one will
be really helpful. Thanks again.
