Hi everyone,

I know I've been pretty absent from this site for the last year. I was
tied up with another project, but now that's coming to a close so I'm
coming back to My Dark Secret.

I've been watching how the games have been progressing, where the bugs
are and where people are getting stuck. There are a ton of bugs I need
to fix, so that's my first priority. Then there are a bunch of user
interface problems to clear up ... make it easier to play and
understand.

So, in this discussion I'd like to get your feedback. What would you
like to see in the game?

Also, if you're working on a script, let me help you get it completed.
I want to get another 10 scripts published on the site and give
everyone something fun to play.

Thanks for all your support on the game ... let's make the next
version even better!

Cheers,
Sandy

Hi Sandy! Welcome back. I have a suggestion: When you check the
box to help new players with a script, it would be great to be able
to
change your mind. Even though I un-check the box, it pops back up
still checked-- and I still get questions to answer. Also, have you
thought about getting someone to proofread the scripts? Personally,
I
am a stickler for spelling and correct grammar... and I love to
proofread, if you need
someone to volunteer. =)

I would LOVE help with my script "'Til Death Do They Part". What
I have so far is in Script Management. I have ideas, but the writing
part is difficult. I would welcome any suggestions or help.

Thanks!

While playing, I just thought of two more-- when you join a game in
progress and your character has already posted things... what do you
think about giving us an edit button? I understand it could hurt the
game to allow people to delete things that were already in game play,
but sometimes it's difficult to keep continuity when someone played a
character completely different than you want to. If there was an
edit
button, then you could go in and change the writing style. Maybe you
could put a warning: Although you may change the wording, punctuation
and style of the former player's post to fit the way you would like
to
play your character, do not change any facts or challenges, as this
could negatively affect the game.

When we establish a challenge or fact, a message box pops up on our
own page. Sometimes I would like to answer someone's challenge or
establish a fact in the midst of a conversation on another character's
page. Is there any way that we could... maybe just allow you to reply
or post anywhere and then have a button that pops up that allows you
to establish a fact or complete a challenge (without having to post it
on your own page)? It would really help with role playing.

What do you think?

Steff! Great suggestions. That's exactly the type of stuff I'm looking
for.

I'll have a look at your script too and give some suggestions. But I
need a way to make it easy for people to review and give feedback on
scripts while they are being developed. I had previously attempted
something like this, but I took the wrong approach. Now I have better
ideas.

PS> That check box should work. Perhaps use the tab key to move down
to that check box and when it's selected, press Enter. Try that for
now until I can fix it.

Glad to have you back Sandy!
Only suggestion I can think of is not letting a
game start until all characters' positions have been filled,at least
in small cast games. I found it frustrating to be playing a game with
only one other person and then,as I've noticed in lobby listings of
other games ,people don't seem to want to join games around 40% done
with half a cast or less. Maybe with a big cast you could just make it
that a majority must be present at start. Or maybe you think this
would slow the game down. Anyway, just a suggestion. Cheers,Terry

Ok, here's another suggestion: is there any way to make a game
private? I am in the most fantastic game with the most wonderful
roleplayers ever... and, sadly, have dropped out of several games when
the roleplaying was horrendous. It would be really cool to be able to
invite certain players (maybe through site messaging or this forum?)
and close it to others. In order to make it fair to everyone, whenever
a private game is selected, a public one could also become open for
anyone else to join.

Yet another great suggestion Steff. In the original version of MDS I
allowed people to do that, but I found it was hardly ever used and
caused too much confusion. But I think we have enough users now and
the sentiment is different. Perhaps only allow Level 1 or 2 players to
create private games?

One thing I haven't heard is to have more community features for
allowing players to connect to each other out of the game (like your
suggestion for finding private game players).

Also, what do you think about being able to play a game a second time?

I had asked this a long time ago, but what about video support, so you
could video your challenges/responses in a YouTube like setting rather
than type text?

How about richer text (bold, font size, style, etc)?
