Hi
ffolks,
Many of you will receive this as a duplicate, because I have
already sent this to your personal email address directly.
But, I am sending this to the club's Forum (Google
Group) as well, in order to share this news with some people that
have left the club but may still be part of the Forum.
NOTE that the Forum is a Google Group and it is independent of
the Mt. High club. People join the Forum on their own
(optional), and they also need to leave the Forum on their own
if they wish to do so. The Mt. High club doesn't control this
Group.

17, 2025 at 2 pm.
b) Lloyd Musser's Celebration of Life, Sunday, July
13, 2025, from 1 - 5 pm.

Lloyd Musser
============
Lloyd Musser was the curator and heart and soul of
the Mt. Hood Museum and Cultural Center in Government Camp. He
passed away on March 1st, 2025, just a few months after his
wife Maureen died. It is interesting that he passed away on
the same day that the annual Ski the Glade Trail Day was held
-- and event that Lloyd himself created some 22 years earlier.
Please
join us in honoring the lives of Maureen and
Lloyd
A. Musser
on
July 13th, 2025, at
Timberline
Lodge, from
1–5 PM.
This
celebration of life is open to all whose lives
were touched by Lloyd and Maureen. As Maureen
wished, it will be a joyful gathering filled
with laughter, shared memories, and stories
that celebrate their legacy and the many lives
they impacted.
Feel
free to spread the word to anyone who may want
to attend.

Bud Valian
==========
Most everyone who
spent much time on the mountain knew Bud Valian. He
passed away in Belize on April 23, 2025. Bud wa 91
years old. Bud was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, but
lived most of his life in Government Camp, Oregon. He worked as
a ski instructor and later opened the Mogul Mouse Ski Shop and
Bud Valian’s Ski Shop in Government Camp, teaching skiing all
winter. He would travel south for two months every spring for
SCUBA diving adventures.
Here is an email that Betsy sent to Jeannie Hummel and asked
for us to let folks know. Bud's wife Betsy wrote:
" I lost Bud on the 23rd. It already seems like an eternity
ago. He passed while holding my hand, laying on the bed
together and I recalling all the beautiful dives, boats,
adventures, skiing and life we had together... the tropical
breeze was especially soft and perfectly warm, not hot that
day. I noticed. I opened the curtains and windows and let the
breeze sweep over us as we laid there. Within 15 minutes he
slipped away to a place without the constant pain Bud has had
to live with for so many many years of his life.
"I wanted you to know. I am fine. I have friends around and
I'll be returning to the mountain & Newport sometime end
of June or July .... this house is so quiet and empty now, it
was built w/ Bud's needs in mind and is now soothing on better
days.. to be able to go out on the verandah and watch the
Agoutis, birds and smell the Cashew fruit and Manges ripening
in the treetops.... see the clouds pass by over the palm
trees, as he loved it.
"We were blessed to be together for almost 42 years married.
It was a rough fight Bud fought as ‘end of life’ is nothing
like it is in developed countries, but would it be any other
way for Bud? Probably not. He was a brave man. Life is a
blink, we are truly dust in the winds….. take care, all of
you.
Betsy"
