Hi folks,

    OK, it's happening this
Saturday, April 19, 2025.  We'll
meet at the rear exit from Timberline's day lodge, near the ski
    check,
around 9 am.  We'll wait for the Mt. Hood Express bus
    to arrive at
9 am, plus a few more minutes to give people
time to use the restroom and/or to put their ski boots on.

    Then we'll go ski
Little Zig Zag canyon.. This is slightly
out of bounds, west of Timberline. We'll play it by ear, depending
on the snow quality.  We could do just a short tour in and out of
the canyon and get back to the ski lifts.  If conditions permit,
we'll ski all the way down to Government Camp, ending  at the end of
the Glade Trail and then walk down to the Collins Lake Resort.

At least a couple of us will park our cars near the entrance to
Collins
      Lake Resort and catch the
Mt. Hood Express bus up to
Timberline. The bus stops at Collins Lake Resort at 8:40 am, and
arrives at Timberline at 9 am.  The fare is exqactly $2 in cash, and
you must have the exact amount, because the driver has no change to
give you.  Or you can simply drive your car up to Timberline

The ungroomed snow hasn't been very good this Spring, either
too icy and rattly, or too heavy and grabby.   But there is good
reason to believe this Saturday would be better, because there are a
series of freeze and thaw cycles this week, cold nights, followed by
warm days.  We won't know for sure until we get there and test it,
but it certainly is worth a try. When the snow is good, it is easy
    to ski.

The terrain is mostly intermediate, but there are 2 or 3 places that
are steep.  Most of the steep places we'll be simply traversing the
steep slope, not skiing straight down it.

We do need to have a Timberline lift ticket, or a
Timberline
      Spring Pass, or a
Fusion Pass. We'll be using
Timberline's lifts to take us up high enough to enter Little Zig Zag
canyon, which si at approximately the same elevation as the top of
    the Magic Mile lift.

Let me know if you want to come.  Here is just one of the many
interesting sights we'll see along the way.  This is two of us
inside Little Zig Zag canyon:  The two skiers are Lisa Miller and
    Kurt Wilke.
