to Mountain High Snowsport Club
Let's make it a full day.  After a day of skiing, let's have dinner in Government Camp, and then attend the History Happy Hour presentation: "Mt. Hood Revealed" at the Mt. Hood Museum in Govy.  Doors open at 6:30 pm.  Presentation starts at 7 pm.  By about 8 pm, we can drive home.

Our skiing options are many. Some may participate in the Slalom race on Dog Leg (a.k.a. "Bill's Gold") at Skibowl, as part of the Masters Races.   Others will ski, as usual, at Mt. Hood Meadows or Timberline.

I am planning to go to Timberline, or maybe Skibowl, if it's too windy, stormy, or foggy at Timberline.   Or maybe go to Skibowl just for something different for a change, since those of us with a Fusion Pass end up skiing at Timberline most of the time.

The forecast is for 90% chance of some snow:  2 - 4 inches at Timberline, 1 - 3 inches at Skibowl, and 1 -3 inches at Meadows.
Winds will be a 6 mph breeze at Skibowl and about double that at Timberline and Meadows, with  gusts of up to about 25 mph.

Anyone want to join me?  Vote for either Timberline or Skibowl.

Keep in mind the following:
1.  All parking lots fill up early on popular days. If you arrive after 8:30 am, it is possible you might not find a parking spot.  That's true of all the 3 major ski areas on Mt. Hood.

2.  There are never long lift lines at Timberline, because their lift capacity far exceeds their parking lot capacity.

3.  It's best to pre-announce your coming and for all of us to meet at a prearranged spot.  At Timberline, that would be the free ski check on the side/back door from the day lodge to the slopes.  If we know you are coming, we can wait for you.

4.  If you miss us early in the morning, try calling us on a 2-way radio at channel 6-19.   That's channel 6, code 19.

On this particular occasion, this Saturday, regardless of where we ski during the day (Timberline or Skibowl), I intend to go off on my own around 2 pm to take one long run along the Red safety boundary that I am still working on.  This is all ungroomed snow. The snow there last weekend was terrible, so I don't expect that anyone will want to go there right now.  Conditions will be much better in the Spring, after we get some more snow and after it goes through several thaw and re-freeze cycles.  But, I have some work to do, so I'll go there now anyway.

If you really want to, you are welcome to join me on this adventure on Saturday afternoon, but keep in mind that in snow conditions like this (wet cement), it could be a lot of exhausting work, and getting from Timberline to Government Camp could easily take 3 or 4 hours.  For me, that's OK, because it helps to pass the time between skiing and the History Happy Hour presentation at the Museum.

But that's in the afternoon, after 2 pm.  Before that, let's ski just for fun between 9 am and 2 pm.   Skibowl?  Timberline?

Those who prefer to ski at Meadows this Saturday, it might be better to start a separate conversation thread for that.  Otherwise it might get a bit complicated here if different people respond with totally different plans.
