Mountain Legacy is pleased to report the publication of
Jack D. Ives, Montologist: Festschrift for a Mountain Advocate.
This project, spear-headed by Dr. Kumar Mainali, is a long overdue recognition of the contributions of Dr. Ives. We are grateful and relieved that he is still in good health and spirits, actively promoting Mountain Legacy projects, and mentoring a new generation of montologists.
If you think mountains have always been recognized as a key focus of the politically ecosensitive, think again. Mountain stewardship emerged as an international consensus issue only through the efforts of a determined group of advocates, including Maurice Strong, and the Mountain Mafia, led by Bruno Messerli, Jack Ives, and their compadres.
Please help us spread the word about this indispensable guide to the coming of age of mountain politics, for those who were too young to participate in Stockholm, Mohonk, and Rio.
