Since everyone seems to be introducing, I will say a few things about myself:
My name is Sanjay Nepal (it's easy to know I am a Nepali, isn't it?). I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University. I have lived outside Nepal for about 19 years (mostly in Thailand, Switzerland, Canada and the US), but I have been conducted research in Nepal all those years, and a more recent visit this summer. I have published two books on Nepal's tourism issues: 1) Great Himalaya: Tourism and the dynamics of change in Nepal (with Bernard Banzhaf & Thomas Kohler, published by the Swiss Foundation for Alpine Research 2002) and 2) Tourism and the Environment: Perspectives from the Nepal Himalaya (Himal Books, Nepal and Studien Verlag, Austria 2003). I published a monograph on conservation issues in Chitwan, which went on to become a national bestseller in 2003 (with Karl Weber: Struggle for existence: Park-people conflict in the Royal Chitwan National Park; Bangkok: Asian Institute of Technology). I have some 25+ papers on Nepal in various academic journals.
I have a blogsite:
http://tikauliplan.blogspot.com It is basically my childhood memories of Nepal. I intend to continue this for a long time.
I am waiting for the US State Dept to take Nepal off its travel advisory, so I can take TAMU students to Nepal for a Study Abroad Program. Originally from Kathmandu (very close toThamel), my parents have a homestead in Chitwan. My wife is from the Philippines and we have two kids (born in Thailand and in Canada), we love hiking, camping, traveling, and exploring the wilderness.
Thanks
Sanjay
