Hi, friends -

I hope open hockey at Riverbank is running smoothly. I'm not quite ready to return, following a difficult, months-long health problem that began shortly after the last Tuesday morning session on the Ides of March.

I'm using the time - and this mailing list - to shamelessly promote a book I've written about my adventures as a journalist. It has 3 - count 'em - three chapters on how my career intersected with hockey, in ways that included skating with Phil Esposito, the Hansons, the 1974-75 Flyers, Rod Gilbert, Alan Thicke and Richard Dean "MacGyver" Anderson; being the "voice" of the Cincinnati Stingers; and partying with the 1983-84 Edmonton Oilers at their post-game hangout.

This is outstanding (and I'm glad I'm still on this list even though my morning -- and evening -- hockey days are over). I'd buy one for the cover alone and look forward to cracking it open. Hope everyone here is doing ok all things considered.
