Hello folks.

My name is Shaw Thompson. I am affiliated with the Florence Little
Theatre in Florence, South Carolina. It is my privilege to be the
director of our opening show in September - the glorious American epic
Ragtime.

As some of you may know, a Ford Model T (circa 1909) figures
prominently in the storyline of the show. When presented on Broadway
in 1997, a restorer built a 1909 Model T specifically for the
production that ran on batteries. The sensation of seeing that
fantastic car onstage is a moment that I treasure, and one that I hope
to replicate for our audiences.

That particular car is no longer in circulation, and while most
theaters build a wooden "prop" car for the show, we would most like to
find an actual car to use in the production. To that end, we would be
willing to rent, pay for the use of, or buy any frame parts in order
to replicate some version of our own. Free tickets are just the
start!

It is not necessary for the car to run onstage - it will be rolled on
and off and secured at all times. There is a large, roll up door that
would allow us to load the car into the backstage area as well. The
theatre will of course carry liabilty insurance during the time the
vehicle is in our use.

If you are interested at ALL in being a part of our production, or
know of any other avenues we could pursue, please pass them along.

Our theatre is over 80 years old, and moved to a brand new 12 million
dollar facility in 2008. Ragtime will be our largest production ever
- with over 50 people onstage singing, dancing, and coummunicating
this hauntingly beautiful and timley work of Americana. All we need
is a Model T. We hope you can help.

Feel free to contact me at the number below or email privately for
further details.

Thanks -

Shaw Thompson

Hi Shaw
My uncle has a 1917 ford model t torpedo & 1925 model t touring car. I'll check with him to see if he'd be interested. He's near Columbia & car would have to be hauled there. Not sure about cost but if one of these is of interest, I'll check with him.

Sounds like a great Theater group! I'm in Mt pleasant, sc

Thank you

Hello!

The performance dates are September 14-22, but we would need the car for practice purposes no later than September 7. So, effectively from September 7- 23 (a little over 2 weeks.)
