Thanksgiving Dinner Roundup

We had so much fun with our recent Pumpkin Roundup, someone (who shall remain Kayte) thought we should do a collaborative Thanksgiving dinner. I'm hoping that we can post a meal's worth of recipes that together will make up one fantastic Thanksgiving dinner. And I'd like to do it early enough so that, if you see a recipe you're interested in, you'll have time to give it a test run before the holiday. My hope is that we'll each find at least one new recipe to add to our Thanksgiving feast this year.

 

I'd like to give everyone a chance to post a favorite family recipe, but I also want to make sure we cover all the bases. Ideally, I'd like to have recipes from the following categories:

 

• Salad/Soup
• Mashed potatoes
• Sweet potatoes
• Vegetables -- corn, green beans, carrots, etc.
• Cranberry relish/sauce
• Dinner rolls/bread
• Turkey
• Stuffing
• Dessert (Kayte will be making and submitting Persimmon Pudding)

If you'd like to participate, let me know. And if you have a recipe in mind, use "Reply All" to let us all know so we can keep track of what everyone's making and hopefully pick different stuff. If you don't have a recipe in mind, I'll assign you a category based on what we need to round out the menu.

 

You're probably wondering about timing. I'd like to have our recipes posted on Sunday, November 6, which gives you a little over 3 weeks to post your recipe. I'll do the roundup the following week, which should give everyone time to try out a recipe or two from the list.

Thanks for doing this...and the Christmas Dinner one yet to come, right?  Oh, and the New Year's Eve, Valentine's Dinner, Easter Dinner, etc.  You were planning all those, right?  :-)

Did you get Peggy's reply that she wanted to bring some sort of green bean dish?  Just checking as I didn't see her listed.  Maybe the reply only went to me.

The problem with all this (not that this is a real problem) is that I'm starting to get excited to see what everyone is bringing and then I realize that we aren't really all gathering together in person and eating it as a meal together with our families!!! Shucks!  Oh, maybe someday we can rig up some sort of potluck for a meet-up.  (At my house, right? lol)

I'm in!  I have a cranberry relish, an herbed turkey breast, a butternut squash pie, a juniper berry/ginger turkey, and a mock mince pie - all are waiting in my Drafts folder.  I'm leaning towards the relish or one of the pies, but will be happy to help with whatever is needed.

I'm in! I just saw a recipe for stuffing stuffed mushrooms that looked so good. It's more of a 'leftover' dish but I don't see why it wouldn't work for the day of. Put me down for stuffing and stuffed mushrooms.

It's tradition in my family that whoever hosts the dinner does the turkey, so I'll claim that. It will give me an excuse to make turkey a time or two before Thanksgiving.
