Hi,

So... I've got a couple of questions, I'll try to keep it brief. We
have TMobile, in Chicago (so, U.S. and we don't go abroad so no
worries about considering other countries, etc.)

1st Issue - My 15-year-old son consistently breaks phones. Rather
than pay the insurance which results in 40+ dollars for replacement
anyway, I was looking to do the eBay thing and get a cheap, older
phone with a camera that will hopefully last. Any recommendations.

2nd Issue. My wife has a Dash. Horrible, horrible, horrible device.
But, we're past the return window. I was looking at possibly getting
her a used Blackberry and switching our service more in that
direction. She is NOT a bells and whistles person, so it doesn't need
to be anything fancy. My question on the Blackberry front is how far
back can I go in terms of model numbers and have it still work with
today's TMobile network. Not that I'd go there, but would a 6710 even
work today? Where is the cutoff?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

There isn't really a durable phone that T-mobile has. I would guess
just start buying cheaper ones on ebay. Nokia made some good ones. or
samsung.

Your wife would probably like the 7290 or the 8700. You should be able
to find those pretty cheap online.

1st issue:  eBay is definatley the way to go for your son.  That is what I do for my step-daughter for the exact same reason.  Just make sure you are buying a T-Mobile compatible phone or an unlocked phone that will work on the GSM network.  Before final purchase, I recommend you contact T-Mobile just to make sure the phone will work.

2nd issue:  I recommend you go to my site and click on the Overstock.com link (under the page for unlocked cell phones) and then do a search for "refurbished unlocked blackberry".  This way you can get a phone that is newer at a price that isn't so high.

Hope I have helped.  If you run into any problems, give me a shout (772-626-3797).  If I have been helpful, please make sure to go through my site for your purchases.  Many times I have coupons exclusive to my site and plus I earn a commission and thus can continue to help good folks like yourself.
