Hello,
I am involved in an NSF collaborative research project on the state of AI ethics education nationwide with researchers from the University of Mississippi, Texas A&M, and Virginia Tech (press release). I am the PI from the University of Mississippi, and I am reaching out to encourage you to fill out our survey.
Our goal is to conduct a first-of-its-kind national survey on the state of AI ethics education in the United States by examining how faculty and administrators conceptualize the needs and purposes of AI ethics education as well as to identify institutional capacity and needs to support effective education. By participating you will have early access to all open data, as well as select reports, best-practice models, policy guidelines, and an invitation to the national webinar at the conclusion of the study.
We anticipate that the survey will take no more than 20 minutes. Some questions request open-text responses, and we encourage you to use the dictation function on your computer if that is easier. Some questions allow you to upload files and resources (such as your CV or a syllabus), and we encourage you to share whatever resources you think would be helpful.
We realize that people often have multiple roles at an institution. We have created two surveys: one for faculty and a separate one for administrators. Please click on the following link and select the survey option that you believe best describes your primary institutional role:
Please forward this email to anyone at your institution or in your professional network whose perspectives you think would enhance this research project.
Participation in this study is strictly voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time without penalty. Your decision not to participate has no negative consequences for you.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact any of the PIs listed below.
This study was reviewed and approved under the exempt category by the Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) at the University of Mississippi (IRB Protocol #25x-244), Texas A&M University (IRB Protocol #STUDY2025-0409), and Virginia Tech (IRB Protocol #25-261).
