Seeking help and support

Hello everyone,

As you all know my son Milton Ramos Jr. has been incarcerated for the past three years. As of right now we have not received an offer from the DAs office. My son's case was referred to alternative sentencing Coordinator but he has not been able to help out because he does not have the resources nor the capacity at this time. Milton has been denied from Delancey Street and the Jericho program. As we all know they are not that open to working with the TAY population. Which this leaves my son stuck and my family in desperate need of help. Milton did get excepted to two programs called Options and Asian recovery center but those two programs are not being excepted by the DAs office because they are not as strict as the other two. So as of right now the only other alternative is state prison for my son who is a first time offender. Which brings me why am sending this email To you all. I don't understand why there is no alternative sentencing program for this population. There is no program that can help my son access rehabilitation or behavior modification services which is very sad. The Jericho program will be an amazing opportunity but they're not willing to take the risk and work with my son. This point I don't know what to do!! As a mother who is been fighting the fight for a very long time to help young people not enter the same situation that my own child is in. I feel hopeless clueless and desperate. The Only movement that I see out there that's trying to help those that are incarcerated is our sheriff. He at least has changed the visiting system and has helped lower the costs for telephone communications so that inmates can call their love ones.

As we move forward with this five-year plan I want to see how we can come up with an alternative sentencing housing program that can help this population in need. I know that my son might not be able to benefit from it right now but at least those that are going to come behind him will. This struggle is hard and sad. I hope that as a community we can try to create some solutions to help this underserved population.

Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart!!!!!! Only God knows my pain and my sleepless nights. Milton has already been denied from DeLancey street and the Jericho program. I don't know why he does not even know why. What I've heard through the grapevine is that they really don't like taking 18 to 24-year-olds in those programs specially Young Latinos from the City. But if anyone can make a call send a letter negotiate another interview I would appreciate it. Milton is interviewing to try to get in the violence prevention pot in San Bruno County Jail. At least there he can start learning the restorative justice principals and to prepare him for whatever is next for him. Another way you can support is by coming to court on November 14th department 21 at 9:30 AM. My understanding is that on this day I will be hearing some news finally after three years. We have a very strict and determine DA to send my son a first time offender to State prison. Anyways much love and respect everyone thank you so much. It took me a lot of courage to write this email and send it out to everyone.

Hello Everyone,

I just want to send everyone an update. My son Milton was excepted to a program called Jericho . This is a program that the DAs office and the judges usually except because it's a very strict and structured program.

I wanted to ask if everyone is willing to write a letter addressed to the assigned judge of San Francisco Supreme Courts. The letters need to be about Milton and how you feel as a organization or individual that Milton Ramos Jr will benefit better from a behavior modification program and not state prison. Just to Give you all some history. Milton has been incarcerated since September 7, 2011. He has not been sentence or given an offer. He Has been sitting in custody with no programing or any type of services. The one thing that Milton was able to accomplish while in custody was receiving his high school diploma from Five Keys. This program will give Milton the opportunity to learn life skills work on himself and also receive therapy. Please check out the link to learn more about the program http://jericho-project.org.

I would really appreciate this from the bottom of my heart Milton has court this Thursday, January 29 at 9 AM. You Can scan the letters and email them to me or I can personally pick them up. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for sending their letters to me. This means so much to me as a service provider because we all work very hard every day to prevent mothers to ever go through what I'm going through. I know that it's very sad that I am in this position but it is what it is. I will continue to fight for my son. Thank you in advance to everyone for their support.
