*sorry for duplicates* MPC CC'd

Good morning everyone. This is what I can personally confirm about the MLVS and Saul Griffith situation and what we are trying do to help save the building.  I am 100% behind saving the building as a mission asset and ask the board to please reconsider any decisions that give away mission assets to outsiders/developers.  I understand that this may be all the board can do without the support and pressure of the community.  I have reached out and believe the board members have gag orders since they are not reaching out to those of us who know them personally.

Mission Peace Collaborative reached out to Saul Griffith on April 21 asking him to meet and his response email said that he had Lyme Disease and he was “lying low for April.”

(Two days later, he was spotted drinking beers with investors in the Mission https://twitter.com/timoreilly/status/856346318976933889)

After that, Griffith went to court with his lawyers from the Andrew Zachs firm and secured a deal with MLVS before the trial.  (The same lawyer that drove the elderly lady from her home) Saul totally ignored a community request.

MLVS has negotiated to give Griffith TIC ownership of the Alabama side of the building, this likely would include the historic event hall that hosted MCO conventions, Centro Social Obrero dances, Mayors going back to Joe Alioto, and one of the last times that Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, and Fred Ross Sr. were together back in 1990.  This was the best deal they could get and I'm assuming the board attorney recommended this.  I don't know much more details and I'm not sure how much they'd have to pay rather then give up space.  We should ask this question and ask the city to intervene to save the building.

The person who shared all of this with me is not on the Board, so I emailed the Chair, Tony Fazzio and 3 Board members (Josh, Esther, Eva) that I know on Saturday to ask for a community meeting to discuss this before the Board votes on the settlement. I am sure there is much more but I don't have that info to decide if this is a good deal for the agency under the circumstances. The email requested a meeting with mission residents Roberto, Alfredo, Erick, Miguel, Anne and myself. I never heard back our agreement was that if we did not hear back we would hold our own community meeting.

So if we don't hear back by tomorrow We will host a planning meeting this Thursday at 6 PM to talk about what we should do next. Email me or MPC directly if you would like to join and you will get further details.  One of the residents is confirming a meeting spot.  We want to help fight and advocate to keep MLVS in the hands of the community.

This is beyond urgent and I will personally invite all those that have said they are willing to step up. NOW is the time.  Don't let this space leave the Mission!!!  Rosario worked way to hard!!

Tracy

Gabriel, appreciate you following up!

I know that Joaquin Torres from the Mayor's Office has been supper supportive and helping out on the City side.

Mission Peace Collaborative reached out to Saul Griffth who is suing MLVS?

I believe he did not respond.

I know he was forcing MLVS to go to trail in April!

Lopping in Eva Royal & Josue Arce who are on the Board of Directors of MLVS & Natalie Hopner who is serving as Interim Director.

Many of us have made a major effort and commitment to ensure the MLVS has the community support to make sure they do not lose the property at all.

WE all need to continue being supportive of MLVS to save the property and support them at this time!

En la lucha!

I had not heard this! Thanks for sounding the alarm. MLVS is an important part of the Mission's history that must be preserved.

Would MLVS be willing to setup a meeting with the community, United to Save the Mission or Our Mission No Eviction, to explain the parameters so we can plan how to dedicate our collective capacity to fight back? That way, they don't have to have 50 conversations and we can help ask the right questions.
