Today we got the first entry for the MacBook Air product family.

Battery specs seem rather peculiar:

Machine: MacBookAir1,1
Model: MacBookAir1,1
Last updated: 3 hours ago
Manufacture Date: 2008-01-01
Manufacturer: N/A
Device Name: N/A
Voltage: 8158 mV
Cycle Count: 5
Max Capacity: 4879 mAh
Design Capacity: 5090 mAh

The voltage of 8 Volts is totally new and probably means that the
processor and logic board have custom power requirements (I'm not a
hardware geek so I can't tell).

The small size of the internal, non user replaceable battery will
probably account for the not exceptional capacity of 5090 milli Ampere
hour -- which is however higher than current MacBooks'.

Sorry for the missing manufacturer and device name, they will be
disclosed when a MacBook Air owner submits data using
MiniBatteryLogger 1.8.2 or MiniBatteryStatus 2.6.6.

Best regards,
Claudio

Update:

Manufacture Date: 2008-01-25
Manufacturer: SMP
Device Name: ASMB017

I wonder if the internal batteries are all from SMP or there are lots
with different manufacturers, like the other MacBooks.

Best regards,

Cool!

Would you be so kind to disclose the (real) duration of the battery
under typical workload, and the time required to recharge the battery
at full?

Thank you.

The battery has been calibrated -- a full charge usually takes about 5
hours, but there have been a couple of instances where it's much
longer.

The battery life really depends on what you're doing. With radios
off, just doing word processing, I can get almost six hours. On the
web, it's usually four-ish and with the thing going full-out
(Parallels VM and driving an external monitor), it's as little as 2.5.
