No menu shows up if MBL is hidden from dock

I am a new user of MBL. Since I have to take my MB on road and I
thought it useful to monitor my battery usage status, I have just
registered my copy of MBL. I just found a small problem that MBL
doesn't show up its menu when "Hide Dock Icon" is checked in its
Preferences panel. This behavior is weird and I guess it's unexpected.
Would you please fix this bug?

It is normal that the application menu disappears when you hide its
Dock icon.
For this reason, some functionality is added to the status item menu
(e.g. show preferences), some other is otherwise available from the
main window: toolbar buttons, buttons etc.
What kind of functionality do you miss from the main menu that is not
available from the main window and status item menu?
