உலகெங்கிலும் புலம்பெயர்ந்து வாழ்ந்து வரும் தமிழர்களை பற்றிய தரவுகள் மற்றும் தகவல்களை ஒரே இடத்தில் ஒருங்கிணைத்து ஒரு ஒற்றை கலைக்களஞ்சியத்தைப் போல இந்த தமிழர் தடம் தரவு தளம் செயல்பட வேண்டும் என்பதே இதன் முக்கிய நோக்கம் ஆகும்.

இத்தளத்தில் பதிவிடப்படும் கட்டுரைகள், தமிழர்களின் வரலாறு, புலம்பெயர்வு குறித்த இனங்களில் சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த இரண்டு பேராசிரியர்களால் மதிப்பீடு செய்யப்பட்டு பின்பு வளைத்தளத்தில் வெளியிடப்படும்.

இக்கட்டுரைகள் இக்கால தமிழ் சமூகத்திற்கு மட்டுமின்றி எதிர்வரும் சந்ததியினருக்கும் தாங்கள் கடந்து வந்த பாதைகளை, பயணங்களை பற்றிய புரிதல்கள் ஏற்பட ஏதுவாக தமிழர் தடம் வலைதளம் இருக்கும் என்பதில் ஐயமில்லை.

Tamilar Thadam is a free and open digital knowledge platform created by the Government of Tamil Nadu through the Department of Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils and Rehabilitation. It aims to research and document the histories, data, and experiences of Tamils living across the globe, especially those who migrated during the colonial period.

The primary objective of this platform is to function as a unified digital encyclopedia by consolidating data and information about Tamils living worldwide in one place.

The articles submitted to this platform will be reviewed by two distinguished professors specializing in Tamil history and migration studies before being published on the website.
