Remote Desktop Client and Multiple Monitors

RDC users who use both widescreen and standard displays in a dual-
monitor configurations are unable to span both displays unless both
screen resolutions match (I am aware the use of the height and width
switches to get around this, but it appears to only work when the
height is the same on both displays).
In looking around, I am unable to find a third party who provides a
workaround for the problem.
Does Microsoft have plans to address this in the near future with an
update to the Remote Desktop Client software?
