Hi MPL,
My name is Ryan Claytor. I'm a Michigan State University Professor, a comics artist, and you may know some of my pinball artwork from things like Stern's 30th anniversary artwork, Pinside shirts, and our very own Pinball at the Zoo (
http://elephanteater.com/10761).
I'm writing to you today because I'm awfully excited to announce a new publication called, Coin-Op Carnival, which I've illustrated and co-written with my good bud and "For Amusement Only" Podcast Host, Nick Baldridge. It's all about electro-mechanical coin-operated amusement devices, both pinball and non-video arcade games. Together, we've been working on this project for over 2 years and we're ready to debut it at the Texas Pinball Festival in a couple weeks.
If you'd like to know more about it, Pinball News recently posted an great article detailing the book, it's release, and our 16 stop, 10 state, promotional book-signing tour:
We also have a dedicated website:
...where you will be able to find out more about the book and purchase it starting March 22nd, 2019, the same day we'll begin selling it in person at the Texas Pinball Festival.
P.S. If anyone plans on attending TPF, Nick and I will host a seminar on Friday evening, March 22nd, 2019, at 8pm. We'll also be joined by noted pinball historian, Gordon Hasse, who has received an advanced copy, will contextualize our new book in the broader landscape of publications, and introduce us to the TPF seminar room.
Thanks for your time and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
---
Ryan Claytor
